SSINK Blog Hop - Hearts

It's another month for a hop with the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration girls. With Valentine's Day just a few days away, the theme for this month is HEARTS! As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number 10 on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog Hop - Breelin at Craft-Somnia Momma. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

The first card is super simple and showcases the Stacked with Love Washi Tape. I wanted to try out pairing the red and black with some gold. I plan to give this one to the hubby for Valentine's Day.

2015 Class Valentines

Today my kids have their class Valentine's Day parties, so in true Heidi-fashion I waited until the last minute, so the kids and I "whipped up" their valentines just yesterday! The kids had already picked out their candy over the weekend, so it was all about figuring out what we were going to create! Once we figured out the design, it was easy to create an assembly line. And, yes...I could have just picked out some store bought valentines, but I have a whole room of fun supplies just waiting to be used and couldn't resist getting a little creative with my kids!

My little first grader lasted through punching all the hearts, attaching the Airheads to the cards, and writing "from Austin" on all 25 valentines! Then it was off to play and I finished the rest after he went to bed. :)

I combined some old products with new to create these valentines. I used a Marina Mist cardstock and used the Cloudy Day embossing folder from last Spring's Occasions Catalog. I used Celebrate Today to stamp the balloon using Tangerine Tango ink (his color choice!) and die cut them out with the coordinating balloon framelits. "You send me soaring!" was from a stamp set a couple of years ago. The little hearts are from the itty bitty punch pack. We attached the Airheads with glue dots. I added a little bit of white cotton twine for the balloon string.

The next group of valentines were made by my sweet little 3rd grader! She LOVES to create with me, so she pretty much took care of everything. Together we decided on what she wanted her valentines to look like (something to go with the Starburst candies she chose!) After I created and printed off the words and cut them into the right measurements, she did all the rest! I didn't snap a picture of her until she was pretty much done with her assembly line.

This idea is not originally mine (hello, Pinterest!) I loved the design idea of THIS VALENTINE I found online, but figured I could create it Stampin' Up! style. The black and white stripes is from the Stacked with Love Washi Tape from the Occasions Catalog. For the words, I just got on the computer and created it in Word. The star is punched out using a retired star punch (but you could always use the Star Framelits!) Mikayla and I both loved how these turned out!

Another fun year of creating valentines with my kids!

Paper Pumpkin - Filled with Love

Tonight I am holding my Filled with Love & Treats Class. Each of my attendees will be creating all of the cards and projects seen in the picture below. Although candy is not included in the class, I created the samples showcasing the different kinds of candies they could use (all coordinating, of course!). Everyone will make 3 cards, 3 tiny treat boxes, and 6 tags with bags...all using the January Paper Pumpkin "Filled with Love" Kit.The project you see below only use half of one kit!

Each of the cards we will be making use pieces from the kit. I just added a few extra things, like...

...the Hearts Embossing Folder.

...the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.

...and the Perpetual Birthday Calendar & Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.
{This card was closely CASEd by a card I found on the Stampin' Up! blog HERE.}

And, oh how I love these little treat boxes, so I decided to add these to the class, as well! Again, all pieces are what I found in the kit.

I added some 1/8" Gold trim to this box just for something different.

Lastly, we will also be making these little bags, which is actually just how the kit is intended for! One full kit makes 24 of these tags and bags, but I wanted to add in some different projects for my class, so they will take home six of these. Aren't the gold clips so cute? You just fold over the baggie and clip everything together. Easy-peasy!

The Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration team is sharing some Valentine's Day cards, bags, tags, boxes, and more over on our blog today! Click on the link below to come over for a visit and get inkspired!

Control Freaks Tour - Love

It's Control Freaks time!! I've missed hopping along with this talented group of stampers, so I am excited to be back! If you've already been hopping along then you just came from the talented Patty Bennett's blog. This month the theme is LOVE and it doesn't have to be just for Valentine's Day either (although how fitting that we are inspiring you early to create some things for the next holiday!)

I have a few cards to share with you today that showcase the You Plus Me stamp set along with the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack. Both of these products are so fun to work with! The paper is to die for and has so many options as the front is colored with Real Red, Calypso Coral, and Crisp Cantaloupe whereas the back of the paper is all black and white. So fun!

Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack

My first card uses a Whisper White card base stamped with one of the "splatter" images from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, as well as a heart from the You Plus Me set. I also embossed a piece of Real Red using the new Happy Hearts embossing folder. I added three different patterned strips from the Stacked with Love paper stack to add some more color. The You + Me circle is on top of one of the Starburst Framelits.

Next up uses some of the black and white patterns in the same Stacked with Love paper stack. I love how the arrows coordinate with the image I used. I really like the "you're sweet" image for a Valentine's Day card as you could really give it to anyone you want...it's not too lovey-dovey. ;) Not sure if you can notice but underneath where I punched the confetti hearts, I added some red glimmer paper to peek through. AND if you look really close along with some of the "splatter" from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set, I added some tiny hearts to the background as well. These little hearts are one of the images from the You Plus Me set.

My last card uses some of the same products, but also adds in some different patterns of the paper, using both the black and white XOXO and the tiny red hearts! I used the Happy Hearts embossing folder again as the full background and decided to add in some Coastal Cabana color for a fun contrast between the black and white. The large heart comes from the Hearts Framelits and the smaller red glimmer heart is punched with the small heart punch.

http://wickedlywonderfulcreations.blogspot.com/I hope you feel some LOVELY inspiration today as you hop along with the Control Freaks! Next up is the WONDERFUL Wendy. Keep on hopping to see what amazing talent she has to share with us today.

Creation Station Blog Hop - Best Day Ever!

The Creation Station is back! We took a little break for the holidays, but it's time to start inspiring again so we hope you will join us in the hop today as we share with you some new stamp sets coming from both the Occasions Catalog and Sale-A-Bration brochure.

For today's hop we were able to choose from the following (any or all):
1. One Tags Fit All (Occasions Catalog)
2. Best Day Ever (Sale-A-Bration)
3. Theme: Valentine's Day

I chose to showcase the new Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Best Day Ever. This is a set you can earn FREE with a $50 order. It's a pretty simple set, but it is full of some super fun images...I definitely love the style!

For the first two cards I paired this set with the Best Year Ever DSP also available as a freebie with a $50 order. It's such beautiful paper and many of the prints match perfectly with the stamp set. The colors are beautiful, too!

With this first card I added the "thanks" at the bottom as I felt the sentiment that says "you made my day" would be perfect finished with a thank you. I added some Crushed Curry washi tape (from the Beach House washi tape set). The button and ribbon are also part of Sale-A-Bration freebies. The buttons and ribbon come in coordinating colors to the paper...Crushed Curry, Coastal Cabana, and Calypso Coral. They're beautiful!

 Tools
Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Circle Framelits, 2-1/2" Circle Punch

This next card is one of my favorites, but it did take some extra work with cutting out the flower-looking images. Oh well...the end product is worth it! The background is stamped with the bokeh background stamp.

This picture shows you the dimension of the flowers. It gives the card a fun effect!

My final project combines the Best Day Ever stamp set along with our Valentine's Day theme. I thought it would be cute to use one of our new tiny treat boxes from the Occasions Catalog. These are stinkin' adorable!! They are only a 2" square, but oh. my. word. The cuteness! I am going to see if I can talk my daughter into doing something with these for her class valentines this year! This sample is super simple, but with such a petite box, it can be simple...and that's OK! I added some paper from the Stacked with Love Paper Stack to each square panel (measuring 1-14/16")

Here is a more up close view of the front. I added a couple extra mini red glimmer hearts and some red candy dots just to dress it up a bit.

occasions catalog sneak peek ~ you plus me

Over at the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog, we are counting down the days until the new Occasions Catalog is live...which officially starts on January 6th! We have already shared some great inspiration over the last few days, but today we are showcasing the You Plus Me stamp set. This set is perfect for Valentine's Day and comes with some super cute images!

I just received my box of Occasions Catalog pre-order goodies on Friday night, so I locked myself in my stamping studio until I created a card using this set. I didn't stop at using just the stamp set (the "Be Mine" is the image from the set), I also used the new Stacked with Love DSP Stack, Happy Heart Embossing Folder, Stacked with Love Washi Tape, and Confetti Heart Border Punch. There are so many great products in this new catalog to create fun Valentine's Day cards!

class valentines - 2nd grade style

My daughter really wanted to be the "creative planner" for her class valentines this year and I was all for it. She's in 2nd grade and LOVES to use her mama's craft room as her creative space, too! We searched Pinterest for a bit, but she never really fell in love with anything, so she got to planning something on her own. With a few suggestions from me (some she took, some she didn't), she ended up deciding on using lollipops and the Banner Framelits. She die cut all 30 banners, stamped each image (from the Delightful Dozen stamp set), punched out each red glimmer heart with the Small Heart Punch, and then put them all together. She is so proud of her work...and I am, too!

My son's class valentines were super easy to put together...and has nothing to do with Stampin' Up! (shocker!!) He has recently gotten into the Minecraft video game and when I came across these Sweethearts candy box wrappers on Pinterest, I knew they would be perfect for him...and I was right ~ he loved them!

 {Love his little signature.}

Come on back tomorrow for our monthly blog hop!!

"i dig you" valentines

Each year for Valentine's Day, I usually end up making handmade class valentines for more than just my own kids! Last year I had my Etsy shop open and made quite a few (83 to be exact!) of the monkey punch art toppers I had available for purchase. My punching hand sure got a work out! I was also asked by a friend last year to create some fun owl valentines for her son's class. And, then through word of mouth, I ended up making some more for her friend! My daughter and I made her valentines last year, as well. It was a fun mommy-daughter time! Although my pre-school son didn't get in on the action in making his valentines last year, I still had fun making his "Bugs & Kisses" valentines.

One of those same friends from last year asked me if I would be up for making some valentines for her Kindergarten & Preschool boys again this year! I was definitely up for it and got busy searching to see what I could come up with. I ran across quite a few inspiring things and ended up going with the retired stamp set I Dig You (which I was able to borrow from a friend!) and used the matchbook treat holder design that holds a fun size pack of M & M's. There were many different tutorials for the matchbook, but I ended up using this one by Melissa Stout, The Stamp Doc. She even has a video tutorial! One of the best things about this treat holder is that you can make 4 treat holders out of ONE SHEET OF CARDSTOCK! You can visit her blog for all of the measurements.

You can't really tell here, but underneath the sentiment "i dig you", you will see a staple. This is what holds the M & M's packet in and then you tuck the cardstock in the front to stay secured.

I used my Stampin' Markers (Daffodil Delight and Basic Black) to color in the dump truck (yes...all 40 of them!) and then the Small Heart Punch was used to punch the three hearts out of Red Glimmer Paper that are tucked in the truck. To get the hearts "inside" the back of the truck, I took my Paper Snips and made a slit to tuck them in, adhering with Snail Adhesive.

All 40 valentines ready to be hand delivered by two cute boys!
