Farewell to Pretty Petals

We're just shy of two weeks away from the new 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog debut! Although this is an exciting time for all of the new stuff to come, it also means you still have time to order some of the retiring products before they are gone, gone, gone!

Today on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog we are showcasing some of these retiring products, so head on over to take a peek at what some of the other designs are going to miss!

Today I am showcasing the Pretty Petals DSP Stack.

I was inspired by a card that I saw in the Stampin' Success magazine (an exclusive magazine for demonstrators only) and turned it into a card I could use for my monthly card night. It was such a simple, but sweet design that really showcases this paper well!

I was hosting another card night and still wanted to use this layout, but I had run out of the Old Olive cardstock (for the base), so I decided to change the card base and bring in a few more of the different prints from the DSP stack.

And then I ran out of the Silver Baker's Twine and gave another option of using the Watermelon Wonder Lace Trim (also retiring). I had a variety of sentiments available for my guests to use and they got to choose if they wanted to use the twine or lace trim. My two samples also showcased that you could change up the order of the paper to get a different look.

Washi Tape Build-A-Birthday Cake

Today at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration we are showcasing washi tape! I think my favorite washi tape from this year's Annual Catalog is the Cherry on Top Designer Series Washi Tape. The colors and patterns are so fun and vibrant!

This Build A Birthday stamp set is the perfect one to use washi tape with! The first layer of the cake is stamped in Crushed Curry using a stamp from the set. There are more stamps in the set that create layers of the cake, but I chose to use two strips of washi tape for the top two layers instead. I used this card for my September Card Night and each guest could pick from some different pattern papers I had available from the Cherry on Top DSP Stack, which coordinates with the washi tape!

Butterfly Birthday (Weekly Deals)

Well, hello there! Glad to see you all here again. It's been awhile...

Woo hoo ~ card night is back!! We started up my monthly card making nights again. I always take a summer break and then roll right back into it when September comes around. Although I kind of had forgotten how much work it takes to put these card nights together. It was a busy day yesterday to pull it off...even though it came down to the wire I was able to make it happen! This year the theme is "Chocolate & Cards" and every month I plan to make a fun chocolate-y dessert for everyone to enjoy! Last night was Zucchini Brownies.

Today I am sharing one of the cards we created last night, which also showcases two of the Weekly Deals this week! (See below for more information on those deals!)

This card had a few extra steps, but with my card nights I like to create cards that are challenging, moderately easy, and then quick to put together. I was excited to add some gold accents to the card because I often will choose silver over gold. I added a button, cording and the strip of foil. I love the colors of Calypso Coral, Garden Green, and Gold paired with the softer neutral Very Vanilla. Adding large polka dots to the background just helped make the card pop a little more!

Friday Favorites - Rich Razzleberry & Blackberry Bliss

It's Friday Favorites today at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration and I wanted to share with you some of my favorite colors out of the catalog. In fact, it's one of my favorite color duos. I have always been a fan of purple and so when Blackberry Bliss showed up in the 2014-2016 In-Colors I was so excited! This color is actually the closest purple Stampin' Up! has come out with that was what I used in my wedding (11) years ago! I created a card with this color duo and added a splash of Pear Pizzazz in there for some contrast. The giant polka dots from the Sweet Taffy DSP were a perfect addition!

I created this card for last week's Card Making Night and each of the guests got to pick whichever sentiment they wanted from the February Photopolymer Set called Lovely Amazing You. The watercolor "smear" in the background of the circle is from the Work of Art stamp set. If you look closely on the base of the card you will see that I used the Polka Dots Embossing Folder to match the polka dots of the DSP. I added a bit of Blackberry Bliss ribbon and tied off with a knot for a little something extra. I also added two hearts punched from the Hearts Border Punch and popped them up with Dimensionals. I love adding little details to a simple card.

For Peeps' Sake...Happy Easter!

We're sharing Easter cards today at the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog. I can't believe I haven't pulled out the adorable For Peeps Sake stamp set yet, but I finally used it to make a card for this month's card night.

My inspiration originally came from the card below that I quickly took with my cell phone at our last team meeting. My upline had it out with her samples. To create this card, she was inspired by this card.

I took the basic layout and stepped it up a bit by adding...
1) a Soft Suede card base
2) a chevron embossed background
3) the dotted ribbon scallop border punch
4) a punched flower popped up and then a candy dot added to the middle
5) Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the eggshell

December 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit

This past Wednesday night I held my monthly card making night. On the third Wednesday of every month, I invite my customers, friends, and family to my home to come over and create four cards. The last couple of times we have had a packed house of an average of 20 stampers. I love how enthusiastic my regulars are for stamping and I so appreciate the newcomers that are willing to come give stamping a try!

Most of the time I design all of the cards myself specifically for these card nights, but sometimes I will copy a design I have found online because I just love it that much! This month I decided I would use December's Paper Pumpkin Kit for one of the cards we would make. I am a Paper Pumpkin subscriber and because of this I can order any of the past Paper Pumpkin kit REFILLS that are available. These refills do not come with stamps or the ink (that comes with my original box), but they come with everything else! December's kit was one of the refills I could order and I figured this would save me some time in planning a card...plus all the supplies are all ready to go AND I just knew my customers would LOVE these cards!

Each customer had their choice between the three you see below...first come first serve! ;) Which do you think went first? Yep...happy birthday! I decided not to try to think outside the box and kept the design just as the kit calls for (afterall, I purchased this kit to save time!!)

Aren't these adorable?!

Here's just a little information to learn more about Paper Pumpkin if you would like to become a subscriber.

Do you ever wish you could just get a class delivered straight to your door each month? Well, you're in luck...you can!! Stampin' Up!'s exclusive Paper Pumpkin kits are just that! With a Paper Pumpkin monthly subscription a fully designed project kit (cut and ready for you!) arrives at your door in a little red box filled with stamps, ink, and paper – everything you will need (besides the adhesive and scissors) to enjoy a papercrafting oasis for whenever you need a creative pick- me-up. No need to pull out all of your stuff and figure out what to make. It’s all there for you! Each month your kit is a surprise – the anticipation is half the fun! the perfect blend

Today's card is another one we made at last Tuesday's card making night. I just recently purchased this fun stamp set called Perfect Blend ($10.95, clear mount / $13.95, wood mount). It has been on my list for awhile now, so I was happy to put it to use.right away when I got it. It's such a simple set, but who doesn't love a fun coffee card...especially one you could slip a Starbucks gift card into for a friend's birthday?

Each of the coffee cups are stamped on Whisper White and then cut out with Paper Snips (love those scissors!) I stamped the middle "coffee sleeve" separately onto a piece of DSP and then cut it out (again with my awesome Paper Snips) and adhered it to the coffee cup with SNAIL. It makes such a fun touch! Also the "coffee splatters" are created using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.

Inspired by Rita Wright's card found HERE.

you make me happy when skies are gray!

Eek! Has it really been 8 days since I last posted?! I guess time flies when you're having fun...or maybe when the sun starts coming out and there's more time to play outside!

Last Tuesday I held my monthly card making night. It was a FABULOUS turn out! I had 17 gals and for 4 of them it was their first time.

I saw THIS CARD on Pinterest and just knew it would be a fun one to recreate. I made it a little simpler so that it would be an easy one to reproduce for all levels of stampers at my card night.

Hope you all have a happy Friday!!

happy BIG day - clean & simple

Last week's card night was a HUGE hit! I had 16 stampers in all...7 were club members who get their cards FREE each month with a minimum monthly order. Non-club members also get to attend these monthly nights and pay $10 for the 4 cards. If they choose to order $20 out of the catalog, they receive the cards half off. If they spend $40 or more, their cards are free! After skipping my monthly card nights for a year (and just having 2 "exclusive" clubs going), it has been nice to put these card nights back in the schedule and to open them up to anyone who would like to come!

We created two Christmas cards (already shared HERE and HERE) and one Thanksgiving card (shared HERE), but I also wanted to have a birthday card option available, too! This one is super simple, but I love that the Birthday Basics DSP helps makes the card pop with color! I think I will be giving this one to my kids' principal today for his birthday...the colors could work for a boy or a girl!

SS Inkspiration - Friday Favorites (Magnificent Maple)

It's Friday Favorites at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration! As we head into Fall, I have really "fallen" in love with the single stamp Magnificent Maple. A couple of weeks ago, I shared a project and card using this same stamp. I decided to pull it out again for this month's card making night and paired it up with the Sweater Weather DSP. I used Crushed Curry as the card base (might be my first time ever using this color!) and coordinated with Chocolate Chip & Tangerine Tango.

I created a blending effect with the colors on the leaves using Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango ink.

I stamped it in Crushed Curry ink.

Then I took my sponge dauber and dabbed it in Tangerine Tango ink.

I lightly sponged the edges of the leaf.

Finished Product!

I hope you'll stop by the Stylin' Stampin' Inkspiration blog today to see some of the other designer's favorites!

Have a great weekend!

in color hexagons (& thank you thursday!)

Today I am sharing with you the third card we created at last Thursday's Monthly Card Making Night/Card Club. This simple design features the Six Sided Sampler stamp set and coordinating Hexagon Punch, which you can actually save 15% by purchasing as a bundle in CLEAR MOUNT or WOOD MOUNT.

This card is clean and simple and could easily be created as a fun little card set for someone. As you can see in the picture, I had three different color options as part of the background...all using three of the 2013-2014 In Colors. Left to right ~ Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding, & Crisp Cantaloupe. If you also notice there are FIVE hexagons, each stamped in one of the In Colors (including Baked Brown Sugar & Coastal Cabana). I finished it off with a small heart punched out of Strawberry Slush and then added a tiny pearl. Each of the hexagons are popped up using Dimensionals to give the card a little added dimension, but yet still mailable!

Here is an up close view:

...and of course the sentiment above would be a little "un-special" (is that a word?) without finishing it off on the inside of the card.

And, while we're talking about HEXAGONS!!

Today is Thank You Thursday on Stampin' Up!'s blog. One of the discounted products for ONE DAY ONLY is the Honeycomb Embossing Folder. Although I didn't use it with this card, I did use it on a card we made recently at World Card Making Day. It really goes great with the stamp set and punch!

thank your lucky stars!

Last Thursday I hosted my Monthly Card Making Night/Card Club where each of my guests created 4 cards. We had a packed house of 17 stampers, some new and some seasoned veterans!

This first card I want to share with you was inspired by the colors I found on last week's Color Throwdown. I missed the deadline to link up, but I still wanted to share the card!

I used one of the new photopolymer sets to create this clean and simple card.
{Another Thank You, #133454, $13.95}

The "paint splatters" are from Gorgeous Grunge and the stars are punched out of silver glimmer paper.

Ironically, I needed a couple of thank you cards for my son's soccer coaches, so I added a soccer ball in the corner and called it a win-win!

in color dahlias

My monthly card making night is on Thursday and so I have been busy creating 4 card designs that my guests will create. This particular card design is one I found on Darlene's blog (Dreaming About Rubber Stamps). I loved the clean and simple monochromatic aspect of it, but yet it added in the fun element of stamping/embossing on window sheets. Plus, I added the In-Color Dahlias to the middle of the flower, which just so happens to be one of this week's ONLINE WEEKLY DEALS!

In Color Dahlias
(#127556)
reg. price $7.95
sale price $5.96

Quick tutorial on how to emboss on window sheets:

Stamp your image onto the Window Sheet using Versamark.

Sprinkle your choice of embossing powder and tap off excess.

Use the heat tool to emboss.

Punch out the image.

Voila!

I punched another flower using the same background colors, popped each flower up using Dimensionals and then added a matching In Color Dahlia with a mini glue dot.
