Friday Favorites ~ Apple of my Eye

Today it's Friday Favorites over at the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog! I have sooooo many favorites right now, but I wanted to pick out a favorite that will soon be retiring from the 2016 Occasions Catalog. This set is called Apple of My Eye. It will no longer be available to purchase after May. Time to ink it up a little more before it's gone and I have a whole bookshelf of new stamps that will occupy my stampin' time.

We made this card at a recent card night. I gave the stampers the option to use Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the lemons (I ran out of my Wink of Stella glitter pen, so I went back to the old school method...which definitely adds a lot more glitter!)

Or I gave the option for the stampers to use Crystal Effects to give it a little more of a 3D look to the sliced lemon. The downside of this one is that they had to make sure they set it aside for a very long time to let it dry!

WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

The original card was one that I CASED from a card I saw here. I added some rhinestones for a little extra bling. I actually used this card design for my March Card Night, which then inspired me to create the above design for another group of stampers.

I added the Wink of Stella glitter pen to give the orange a little shine.

Schoolhouse Birthday

We are celebrating my nephew's birthday on Sunday and I needed a card for him (because apparently none of the forty-some birthday cards I already have lying around will do...ha!). I have been in a slump with creating, so I took my little burst of motivation and ran with it.

One thing I am discovering as I continue to seek out what it means to "let go and hold on" (see Monday's post) is that sometimes the process of creating a card just takes me way too much time. I feel like I have to have every little piece in the perfect place and by the end of my creative session I am drained...and honestly, frustrated with the process. Being a perfectionist does have its disadvantages! Today I exercised my ability to just put something on paper and be happy with it without going through a rigorous process of deciding whether I like this or that. What a great feeling to get er done in a snap!  And it helps a ton that I like the final product! ;)

First I simply grabbed my favorite Designer Series Paper pack called Schoolhouse. Such fun prints!! Next I searched Pinterest really quick for a card sketch that would get me going in the right direction. Then I grabbed a stamp set I knew would be great for an 8 year old birthday boy and before I knew it...I was done! Quick, easy, painless...and fun!!

Friday Favorites - All Abloom

It's the last Friday Favorites for this month with items we are so sad to see go!! The Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration gals are showing off some of their favorites from this year's retiring list.

My choice this week is the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack. This particular pack of paper measures 6-1/2" x 4-1/2" and comes with 12 different double-sided designs (4 of each). Right now this paper stack is 50% off which makes it only $3.48. However, it's only available through June 2nd and only while supplies last! So, if you love it...make sure to get it before it's gone!

While searching Pinterest one day I came across these cards that I just knew would be perfect for using up some of my scraps from this paper stack. Her cards are created using some of our retiring (or retired) paper stacks and so I thought using the All Abloom Paper Stack would be a fun option, especially for a Spring card! I made three different samples and used this card for my May card making night. The guests were able to choose whichever color scheme they wanted! As you can see I also used various kinds of ribbon...a great way to use up the last of some of the spools of retiring ribbon!

Colors: Lost Lagoon, Pistachio Pudding, Island Indigo

Colors: Strawberry Slush, Mossy Meadow, Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight

Colors: Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight, Mossy Meadow, Pistachio Pudding

To see the entire retiring list click on the picture below. These items on the list are available through June 2nd or while supplies last! If you would like to order, please visit my online store at heidiboos.stampinup.net. If you choose to order ON June 2nd you will be able to purchase items from the current catalog (with retiring products) AND the new catalog (debuting June 2nd).

Friday Favorites - Flower Patch

It's Friday! Say what?! I guess that week went by in a flash!

Some of the designers are sharing their favorites over at the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog, so come on over to take a peek at what we're loving right now!

My favorite to share with you today is the Flower Patch stamp set...and of course the coordinating framelits! I will honestly admit that this stamp set has taken awhile to "grow" on me, but after I realized that I can be as simple as I want with it...I am beginning to like it (a lot)! I haven't really played with this set much (here is the only other card I've made with it), but I am happy to see that it will be rolling over into the new catalog so I'll have more opportunities to play! I have definitely seen some beautiful inspiration with it!

This was one of the cards we made at April's Card Making Night. It was simple enough for all of my guests to create without too many steps. They had to do some die-cutting with all the flower pieces, but I let them off the hook with the leaves and pre-cut all of those for them! I love, love, love the Flower Pot DSP and how much the paper coordinates with the set.

Here are the two versions I had on display as samples...

Stamp Sets
Flower Patch
Ink
Garden Green, Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry
Paper
Garden Green, Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Flower Pot DSP
Accessories

Friday Favorites - Rich Razzleberry & Blackberry Bliss

It's Friday Favorites today at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration and I wanted to share with you some of my favorite colors out of the catalog. In fact, it's one of my favorite color duos. I have always been a fan of purple and so when Blackberry Bliss showed up in the 2014-2016 In-Colors I was so excited! This color is actually the closest purple Stampin' Up! has come out with that was what I used in my wedding (11) years ago! I created a card with this color duo and added a splash of Pear Pizzazz in there for some contrast. The giant polka dots from the Sweet Taffy DSP were a perfect addition!

I created this card for last week's Card Making Night and each of the guests got to pick whichever sentiment they wanted from the February Photopolymer Set called Lovely Amazing You. The watercolor "smear" in the background of the circle is from the Work of Art stamp set. If you look closely on the base of the card you will see that I used the Polka Dots Embossing Folder to match the polka dots of the DSP. I added a bit of Blackberry Bliss ribbon and tied off with a knot for a little something extra. I also added two hearts punched from the Hearts Border Punch and popped them up with Dimensionals. I love adding little details to a simple card.

Stamp Sets
Lovely Amazing You, Work of Art
Ink
Blackberry Bliss, Pear Pizzazz
Paper

ssink - friday favorites

It's Friday Favorites at SSINK! And, since the Holiday Catalog just debuted yesterday I wanted to pick out one of my favorites from this amazing catalog! I decided to go with a Fall set and chose For All Things.

For All Things
Clear Mount / #135155 / $17.95
Wood Mount / #135152 / $24.95

The color combo for my card comes  from a new blog hop the gals of the 2013 Artisan Design Team have created called Fancy Friday. I found this on the blog of one of my favorite bloggers and paper artists (seriously ~ she makes paper come to life!), Erica Cerwin. This was quite the challenge, I might add...there are a lot of colors to blend together!

I went super simple with this card and in fact, it is an odd size card measuring 5-1/2" x 3-1/2". I'm not going to lie...I did a little "oops" so I salvaged the card best I could which explains the odd size. LOL! As you can see I literally took each color and only used it once keeping a lot of the white space. The jury is still out on whether or not I love it, but it was getting late and so I settled on this finished product so I could let my head hit the pillow. Of course now I'll need to make my own envelope for it...

Stamp Sets
For All Things
Ink
Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss, Early Espresso
Paper
Whisper White, Island Indigo, Real Red
Accessories
SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Rhinestone Accents
 Tools
Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border Punch

Thank you so much for coming by and I wish you all a wonderful weekend! My kids go back to school on Tuesday and so we are going to enjoy this last weekend resting up! Excited to see nothing on the calendar...I wonder if that means time in my stamp room? :)

To help with the layout, I used The Paper Players Sketch #201.

A quick and easy card with a great pop of color with the All Abloom DSP!

friday favorites - farewell to happy watercolor

Today it's Friday Favorites at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration. My current favorites are two items in the 2014 Occasions Catalog. With all of the excitement of retiring products and the new catalog coming out, the Occasions Catalog has been a little forgotten. There are quite a few sets and products you will see in the new catalog that will be carrying over from the Occasions Catalog, but there are also a lot that won't be available any longer after June 1st when the Occasions Catalog is over.

One of those stamp sets we will have to say farewell to is Happy Watercolor ($21.95 clear mount / $29.95 wood mount). I definitely didn't get to play with this set enough. I think I'll hold onto it for awhile, though. It needs some more ink...even if it's just for personal use!

Another product we have to say goodbye to is the Watercolor Wonder DSP. I have used this paper quite a bit since the mini catalog was released. In fact, I mostly just have scraps left!

 Now onto today's card...

I started out with following a sketch, but then my card kind of took on a life of its own and the sketch was no longer to be seen! Have you had that happen before?!

I wanted to zoom in on the flowers and butterflies to show off the tiny little pearls. So fun to accent a card with these! The butterfly is punched once with Daffodil Delight cardstock and then again with vellum and I "fluffed" the wings to look like it was flying.

Stamp Sets
Happy Watercolor
Ink
Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral
Paper
Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Vellum, Watercolor Wonder DSP
Accessories
SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Pearl Accents, 1/4" Daffodli Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon
 Tools
Bitty Butterfly Punch
