Card Making Night - May

On Monday night this past week, I held my 3 for $6 card night. I had three new stampers who had never been before and they really enjoyed it! I think I got them addicted already! *wink*

For this next card, I was inspired by a card I had seen HERE. I changed up the colors and made a few of my own touches, but I just love the bright colors and the way the party hats stand out!

Ink: Melon Mambo, markers - Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo

I just love this Father's Day that I found at Lesley's blog when I participated in a color challenge last week with the Paper Players. I switched up a few things by re-arranging the colors and adding an embossing folder, as well as adding some brads in the corners. I'm just a fan of clean and simple!

3 for $6 Card Making Night - April

Another month has flown by!! I felt like I just blogged about March's card making night! April has definitely been a busy month for me, but even though I had to reschedule my first card making night this month due to an overwhelming weekend/week for me and my family, it was a great turn out of 9 women who came to stamp with me this past Monday! I enjoyed listening to all the fun and laughter that was taking place while they made cards. This is why I host the card nights. For women who just want to sneak in a little fun into their busy schedules and feed the crafty itch! This month's 3 for $6 cards were all birthday cards. These seem to be the most popular, so I decided to stick with all birthday.

This card I CASEd (Copy And Share Everything) from the Stampin' Up! "demonstrator only" website called Stampin' Connection. It is a card by Andrea Munro. I used a different polka dotted paper and added some rhinestones, but most everything else is just the same! It means I really, really liked if I don't need to change much!

Stamp Set: Party Hearty (the banner is actually made up of party hats turned upside down!) Teeny Tiny Wishes (happy birthday)

Paper: Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Bold Brights Pattern Pack (Pumpkin Pie - polka dots)

Ink: Melon Mambo, markers - Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie

Accessories: Dimensionals, Rhinestones Jewel Accents, Pumpkin Pie brads

Tools: Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (used with Big Shot), Modern Label punch, Word Window punch, Paper Snips (for cutting all those party hats!)

I guess I needed a little inspiration for Monday's card night because this is another card I found on Stampin' Connection by Karen Graff-Povis. Her original design is also found on her blog HERE. I used some different colors and DSP, but was pretty much in love with her design, so I kept it "as is". It's a great a layout for using so many different stamp sets and for keeping it simple.

Stamp Set: Party Hearty

Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Ice Cream Parlor DSP (from the most recent SAB)

Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point

Accessories: Dimensionals, 5/8" Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon

Tools: 1 3/8" Square punch, Corner punch, 3/4" Circle punch (to punch out birthday present)

Card Making Workshop

On Sunday, my dear friend hosted a card making workshop at her house. I ran it a little differently than your standard workshop. She had wanted her guests to be able to come and make some cards, and I was up for that for sure! So, everyone brought $5 and I had all of the supplies prepared for them to make 3 cards. This is normally how I run my card making nights. Any chance I get to pass on my love for creativity, I'll take it! There were a total of 6 ladies who came and I think they all had a good time.

Here are the cards we made...

This card I had made for my open house a few weeks ago. Since I had so many leftovers that I had already prepared, I thought it would be perfect to use at her party!

This card I made using the Petal Pizzazz stamp set that I was able to borrow from a friend. I love the colors of Certainly Celery and Regal Rose together.

The last card we made kind of evolved out of many trials and errors. I just couldn't get the card to look the way I wanted. In fact, I thought I had decided the "right one", but I still didn't think it was right, so I used a design that a friend of mine had used for a baby thank you and adapted it for the birthday bear. Plus, I got to use my early Christmas present Big Shot die cut machine from my parents!!

All in all it was a fun afternoon with friends!

I'm holding a 3 for $5 card making workshop on Sunday for a very dear friend and to go along with the JUST FOR KIDS campaign during August, I wanted to design a kid-friendly birthday card the guests could create. It took me three shots to finally get it the way I wanted it to look...

1st try

2nd try
3rd time's the charm!

I used the Cute & Cuddly bear (found in the "Growing Up" section of the catalog) with the Party Hearty birthday hat. If the bear with the birthday hat looks a little familiar, it might be from the last kid-friendly birthday card I made.
