birthday boy...Cars style

I'm only a month behind in posting my son's 4th birthday party invitations, but better late than never! If you're planning a Cars-themed birthday party, I have more details on the party I shared on my other blog HERE and HERE, including dessert ideas, a race track cake, and some simple games to play.

For the invitations, I found a Lightning McQueen image when I did a Google Image search on my computer. I then copied and pasted it into a Word document. My computer just so happened to have a Disney font, so I added the "start your engines and race on over..." right under Lightning McQueen. The black gingham checked paper was all I could find after looking at three different craft stores (I really wanted to find checkered paper!), so I hope that it gave the affect of a checkered flag.

This invitation is actually a pocket card, so when you pull on where the star is, there is a piece of paper with all of the party details! I think this is a fun and unique invitation idea. I found many pocket card ideas in my search for party invitations and I just fell in love with the idea!

A couple of fun treat bags using the scallop circle punch and coordinating circle punches. I created the "Thanks for coming to my party!" in a Word document, printed off a page full and punched them out with the 1-3/4" circle punch.

For the cousins...
For friends...

Not much stampin' with this party, but it was still fun to create!

happy birthday princess!

My daughter's birthday is on Friday, but we are celebrating with friends today (Thursday). She invited 6 of her little girlfriends over to have a Disney princess party. Each of the little girls are dressing up as their favorite Disney princess. I look forward to all the fun things we have planned and I know that she is super excited!

I wanted to show you the simple, but cute invitations I made. The stamp set is called "Princess Time", but unfortunately it retired last year. I was glad to snag it up at a local consignment sale a month or so ago. The colors used are Rose Red (XL scallop circle) and Regal Rose (ink & DSP). The polka-dot DSP is from the Brights Collection Patterns Pack (Regal Rose). I love the collection paper packs...I use them all the time! The added "bling" on the princess crown are the Rhinestones Jewel Accents.

It's been a busy month, but I hope to be back soon with lots more to share!

A "Fairy" Fun Birthday Party!

I was honored to be asked by a friend of mine to be the "craft lady" at her daughter's 7th birthday party. I was so excited because I knew that not only would it bring me back to my teaching days, but I love being able to create some fun projects for kids.

We made two projects:

First off, we made fairy punch art using all Stampin' Up! punches. This idea was inspired by my upline, Andrea Botten, as well as a card I had seen on the Stampin' Up! demonstrator website. I was worried that six and seven year olds wouldn't be able to put these together on their own, but they did great! Before the party, I had my 4-1/2 year old try it out, just so I could make sure it was going to be easy enough.

For the second project, we made the "genie bag". This is such a fun, simple, and quick idea. The tutorial for these can be found HERE.

I also wanted to send something home with the girls, along with my business card to share with their moms. I figured I should take advantage of getting my name out there a little. I made these adorable purse post it note holders. I found an easy tutorial HERE and whipped together nine of these in less than an hour. I can't wait to try out more designs for an upcoming bazaar I'm going to be participating in.

This is what the inside looks like and the purse is held together with Velcro.

I wanted to do a little something for the birthday girl, so I put together a little gift.

I would really love to do more birthday parties in the future. I had so much fun working with the girls. I would even be willing to create the invitations, too! Maybe this is something I'll look into and advertise more.

Each of the girls' beautiful creations...
