Shimmery Birthday Balloon

Good morning! I have a fun card for you today that shows off a little shimmer! The first picture of this card may be a little hard to tell, but the polka dots on the balloon have a little shine and shimmer to them (take a peek at the second picture posted for a better look).

I created this card for February's card night (the theme was birthdays!). I used the Perfect Pairings Sale-A-Bration stamp set (only available through TODAY!!) and the Celebrate Today stamp set and coordinating Balloon Framelits. I love the boldness of the Happy Birthday sentiment (you can see the Sale-A-Bration freebies HERE).

Here is an up close of the shimmer on the balloons. To get this effect I used Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. It gives it that subtle shine to add a fun touch to a card.

4th Annual Sale-A-Brate Our Downline!

This is about a month and a half overdue (along with many other blog posts I have been "meaning to write"), but it's better late than never to play a little catch up. February & March have been so busy, but I hope for things to be slowing down a little. As I type this I am at the beach house enjoying a little "downtime" with my family for Spring Break. No laundry to do or things to clean. Now I can put my time towards other things...like blogging while the kiddos are asleep!

Each year my upline (Andrea) and I put together a little "Sale-A-Bration" of our own and we come together to sale-a-brate our downline in a fun way. This is our fourth year, so if you want to see some of the other things we have done in the past you can click HERE and HERE (apparently I didn't blog about it last year - oops!) We have a small group, but we still try to make it special!

We always like to start with a meal that both Andrea and I plan and put together. This year we went on the lighter side and had sandwiches, chopped salad, and chips. Wrapping a band around a water bottle creates decorative touch.

We also had ice cream sundaes for dessert...yum!

Each year we share two different make n takes for our downline to then re-create. This year Andrea and I both had water coloring on the brain, so our samples showed different ways with this technique.

She shared with us how to create a bokeh background using watercoloring and white ink.

We're busy at work creating our masterpieces!

Here is the final card. This was the first time I tried the bokeh background. I really liked it!

I have already shared the second make n take I created HERE. This particular card showed the watercolor wash technique using one of the (now retired) Sale-A-Bration sets.

I made each of the gals a fun little gift using the Baker's Box Thinlits Die (I have already posted more details HERE).

Andrea gave everyone these cute little bags filled with bath beads. She used the Polka Dot Cone Cellophane Bags new from the Occasions Catalog.

At our get togethers we also swap cards at the end!

We may be a small group (not all were able to make it), but it is always so fun to get together to share ideas, inspire each other, laugh, create, and just have FUN!

Watercolor Wash Hello

Sale-A-Bration is well under way...there is still over a month left! This year Stampin' Up! is retiring a couple of Sale-A-Bration freebies early and they will only be available through TODAY (February 15th), but this means they're also bringing in some new stuff! Starting February 16th there will be a few more options for you to choose from!

I thought I would sneak in one more card using the Sale-A-Bration set called Hello. This is one of the products that will be retiring early, so if you can't live without this set be sure to put your $50 order in TODAY to get it as your freebie! (HERE are some other cards I made with this set.)

This card was inspired by the talented Dena Rekow. We had our annual Sale-A-Bration team meeting last Wednesday and I wanted to bring a watercoloring technique to share. The size of this card is a note card size, but it works perfectly with the "hello" sentiment. I used emboss resist with some watercoloring and specifically used watercolor paper, which makes for such a beautiful look when paired with ink and aquapainters. Just a simple card, but a fun one for a friend to get in the mail! The flower comes from the Botanical Builder Framelits, which I popped up on a Dimensional and added a rhinestone to the center.

Sale-A-Bration Flowering Fields

Today I wanted to share with you a card we made for this month's card making night. I really wanted to feature some of the Sale-A-Bration products and so I chose to use both the Flowering Fields stamp set and Wildflower Fields DSP...combining them both into one card. I have always found Rich Razzleberry to be a stunning color, so I had no problem playing with this as my card base. I chose to set out many of the sentiments from the Rose Wonder stamp set as it has some pretty great choices! The Flowering Fields stamp set allows you to really add any sentiment that works for the card you are wanting to make.

And what's a card without a little shimmer, so I showed all of the ladies our new Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. Everyone loved this pen!!

And like many of the cards I create for card nights, I always leave a little room for each guest to make it their own, so they had all of the flowers from the stamp set as options and they could make it the card they wanted! Here is my second sample with changing up the flowers and sentiment.

Sale-A-Bration Hello!

Have you gotten some Sale-A-Bration freebies yet? Maybe you've only been able to browse the brochure...do you have a favorite? There are so many awesome Sale-A-Bration products to choose from this time around and with a $50 purchase you get to choose one just for you! Visit my online store to start shopping ~ heidiboos.stampinup.net.

I have a few sample cards using one of the Sale-A-Bration sets called Hello. Right now this is a favorite of mine from the brochure. There are a few products in this year's Sale-A-Bration brochure that are only available through February 15th...this set is one of them, so don't wait too long to earn this set!

I paired this Sale-A-Bration stamp set with some of the Cherry on Top products (from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog). I thought it would be fun to use the exact same layout and colors, but just add a few different accents and change up who the card is intended for. I used this card design for a card night I held last night, so it's always good to show many variations.

Creation Station Blog Hop - Lotus Blossom

Time flies when you're staying busy!! Unfortunately my creative juices haven't been able to flow much lately as I have been busy with planning a pretty big family Bingo Night event at my kids' school. Therefore, this little blog got put on the back burner. But...the event was on Friday and now I hope to be back into creating again! With my monthly card night coming up this week, I sure I hope I'm in the mood! ;)

For today's Creation Station Blog Hop we were able to choose from the following (any or all):
1. Theme: Easter
2. For Peeps Sake Stamp Set
3. Lotus Blossum Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set

Because of the aforementioned busy-ness I just have one sweet, but simple card to share with you today using the Sale-A-Bration Lotus Blossom stamp set. I actually created this card for one of my card nights last week, so it's one of those cards that is easily reproducible.

This stamp set is a Two-Step Stamp Set, but technically it's a Three-Step stamp!

To create the flower I inked up the full flower image with Rose Red and stamped off once onto a scrap paper before stamping on my Whisper White. This gives the image a softer color. Then I used Rose Red again and stamped the second image right over what I had just stamped. Finally I used the third image and inked it up with Cherry Cobbler and overlapped it again creating this beautiful effect. There are SO MANY colors you can use to create this beautiful flower and I have seen some amazing samples. Just search "Lotus Blossom Stampin Up" in Pinterest and you will be WOW'd!

Adding the "thank you" on the inside of the card finishes off the sentiment from the front.

It's fun to use different embellishments clustered together. I used a Rose Red Candy Dot, Rhinestone, and Pearl to add a little something to the corner. Plus adding the texture to the background of the card base gives the card a fun look matching the dots from the patterned strip of paper in the middle of the card.

Control Freaks Tour - Time to "Sale-A-Brate"

Yippee! My favorite time of the month...Control Freaks time! We are so excited to SALE-A-BRATE with you all as you hop along for some inspiration. For this month's tour, we are showcasing the amazing products you can get for FREE (with any $50 order) from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. There are definitely some must-haves that need to go on your list! Sale-A-Bration will continue all the way through March 31st, so there is still lots of time to save up to spend...and earn something FREE!

If you've already been hopping along then you just came from the talented Julie Davison's blog. If this is your first stop, then welcome and enjoy the ride! We hope that we can get your creative juices flowing!

I chose two items from the Sale-A-Bration brochure to showcase today.

{Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper}

{Simply Wonderful Stamp Set}

I grabbed 6 note cards and decided it would be fun to take one of each print from the Specialty DSP and use each stamp in the set on each of the note cards. The great thing about the Irresistibly Yours DSP is that you get to color the background ANY WAY YOU WANT. It is white paper with a glossy white pattern, so you create the color. For each of the cards below I just used a sponge to create the look that I wanted. It was so fun to play and create!

For my first card I blended the colors into each other to show that they are going from dark to light.

Colors: Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight
Accessories: 1/8" Daffodil Delight Ribbon
Tools: Big Shot & Oval Framelits

This particular card I used three different shades of Pink Pirouette Blendabilities to color in each stripe.

Colors: Pink Pirouette
Accessories: 1/8" Melon Mambo Ribbon, Pearls
Tools: Big Shot & Deco Label Framelits, Owl Punch (bitty hearts)

For this card, I just tapped on the background instead of smearing to make a solid color.

Colors: Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive
Accessories: Pearls
Tools: Big Shot & Starburst Framelits, 1-3/4" Circle Punch

I used the masking technique for this card and taped off each section to color.

Colors: Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana
Accessories: Rhinestones
Tools: Decorative Label Punch, Banner Punch

This effect is similar to the first one, but chose to go diagonally blending three different colors together.

Colors: Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi, Pink Pirouette
Accessories: Pearls
Tools: Bitty Flower Punch

This simple card might actually be my favorite!!

Colors: Bermuda Bay
Accessories: Candy Dots

What a fun group of cards to give as a gift to someone!

Leave me a comment and let me know which note card is YOUR favorite!
Keep on the tour to find even more amazing inspiration and SALE-A-BRATE with us!! Next up is the one and only Stamper Camper, Mary Brown. I'm sure you are in for a treat!
