Have a Cuppa for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is just a couple of days away and we're celebrating our wonderful mothers at the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog by sharing Mother's Day cards. There's still time to make a card, so I hope that you'll feel inspired by our creations.

My mother-in-law ordered the Have a Cuppa stamp set (from the 2016 Occasions Catalog) a couple of months ago and when it arrived I asked her if I could use it for her next card making night she hosts each month. I thought this would be the perfect card for these ladies! They loved it! The tea cup paired perfectly with the Birthday Bouquet DSP (also from the 2016 Occasions Catalog). Both of these items will not be carrying over into the new catalog come June, so if these products tickle your fancy be sure to order before the end of May!

**My card was inspired by this one I found on Pinterest.

Control Freaks Tour - Let's Celebrate

I am so glad to be back hopping with the Control Freaks after a break last month! My creative juices haven't been flowing as freely as I have wanted (and needed) them to, but hopefully with the change of weather (we're seeing sunny days here in Oregon!) I can turn my inspiration into production again while the bright light shines through my window! We are so excited to CELEBRATE with you all for this month's tour as we showcase cards and projects meant for celebrating...birthdays, graduation, Mother's Day, and more!

If you've already been hopping along then you just came from the wonderful Melissa Davies' blog. If this is your first stop, then welcome, sit back, and enjoy!

I wanted to share with you a Mother's Day card I created using the Circle Card Thinlits. I love how this simple thinlit creates such a fun and unique card design lickety-split with the creases made for you and everything. With this card I wanted to go a step above and create an extended part of the card (on the right side). I'll show you a quick "how to" for that below. This is definitely not my own idea! I am so thankful for other stampers who encourage me to do things differently!

Here is the card closed (sorry, don't mind my fingers...ha! ha!)

I wanted to take a picture of the card at a different angle, so this is what it looks like propped up. You can see the middle circle start to swing open.

And this is what the card looks like when you open the flap on the right. It reveals the rest of the stamped sentiment! There is also a place for you to write a little message...or at least write who it's from! If you were to pull the left part of the card all the way open the circle in the middle swings all the way open revealing the back side of the circle and then it can lay flat.

Stamp Sets
Mother's Love
Ink
Garden Green
Paper
Pistachio Pudding, Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe, Gold Soiree Specialty DSP
Accessories
SNAIL Adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Pearl Accents, Rhinestone Accents, Candy Dots (Regals)
 Tools
Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Circle Card Thinlits, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch

Start with a piece of cardstock that is 8-1/2" x 5-7/16" (this is just shy of 5-1/2"). This way the left side of the paper can fit just right under the left part of the thinlit and then you can slip it through the thinlit so it goes on the top on the right side. I hope that helps!

It will look like this when cut out.

Fold the left creases...

Fold the right crease...

Now design your card to your heart's content!

http://debbiesdesignsblog.blogspot.com/Thanks for stopping by today! Continue on the tour for more great ideas to help CELEBRATE all of the wonderful people in our lives! Next up is the inspiring Debbie Henderson.

more card night fun

Last Tuesday I held another card making event at my mother-in-law's home. We made three cards and I wanted to keep each of them a bit more simple this time around since many of the women who attend these nights are new to stamping and card making. The event started at 6:30 PM and I was in my card loaded up and heading out at 8:15 PM...maybe the cards were a little TOO simple? *wink*
CARD #1
I used the sketch from stamp club for this Mother's Day card.
Of course, I had many sentiments available in case they didn't need/want to make a Mother's Day card.

Stamp Set: Mixed Bunch, misc. sentiments
Paper: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Island Indigo, Rich Razzleberry, Twitterpated DSP
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo
Accessories: 1/4" Rich Razzleberry Grosgrain ribbon, Dimensionals
Tools: Blossom punch, 1" Circle punch

CARD #2
My mother-in-law had the single stamp called Sail Away (now retired) and she had been wanting to use it and I told her that I would be happy to put together a card with the stamp that everyone could recreate at the card night. Once I saw this card by Lisa Vale at Ink Inspired, I knew it would be perfect! I avoided the ribbon and brads, but I definitely kept the fun technique of adding the bright orange sun.
Stampers could either make a Father's Day card or masculine Happy Birthday.

Stamp Set: Sail Away, Happiest Birthday Wishes, Delightful Dozen
Paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Dimensionals
Tools: Stripes Embossing Folder, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine

 CARD #3
I have really been enjoying playing with DSP lately and let the fun patterns do the talking. I saw this fun card by Dawn Olchefske that looked like a great layout. She used the Summer Smooches DSP, but I ended up using a variety of different papers to create this card.

The stampers could make it Congratulations (for graduation) or Happy Birthday.
Stamp Set: Delightful Dozen, retired sentiment
Paper: Pacific Point, Whisper White, Real Red, Summer Smooches DSP, Big Top Birthday DSP, Pacific Point DSP, retired DSP
Ink: Real Red
Accessories: Dimensionals, silver brad
Tools: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, Star punch (retired), Small Star punch (retired)

It was a fun night, especially because my mom always comes along for the ride! It gives us a chance to chat and spend some quality time together without the kiddos wanting something from either of us. We are going to meet again at my mother-in-law's next month and then take a break for summer.

My next monthly card night (3/$6) that I host at my home is tonight! Only two more of these nights before I take July & August off for summer fun! I bet I will miss not having a reason to play with my stamping stuff, so I hope that I can still find time during the summer to get in my craft room!

Stamp Club - May

Last Friday was our last stamp club for "this round'. I had such a great time with these ladies meeting once a month for the last eight months. It's always great to get together with a group of women who love doing the same thing you do!

The monthly financial commitment was $18.75 per month (8 in the group) and each woman was "hostess" for a month, earning at least Level 1 Hostess Benefits, which means FREE STAMPING GOODIES!! If you are interested in joining us, my next group will start up in October!

For our last get together, we made "punch templates" (come back tomorrow for Tuesday's Tip and you can learn more).

We also made one project together and because it was Mother's Day just two days after, I decided to make a card that would be perfect for a card for their mom! I have seen many "flower pot cards" around and when I found this tutorial by Stephanie Luman, I just had to make one!

The card slides right out of the top!
*each of the flowers is adhered using a Dimensional*
Stamp Set: Punched Posies (retired), Teeny Tiny Wishes (sentiment), Dot, Dot, Dot (dots for flower pot)

Ink: Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Daffodil Delight

Tools: Scallop Edge Border punch, 5-Petal Flower punch

I gave the hostess (my sister) a cute little box with a pocket hand sanitizer inside.
I used the tutorial by Erica Cerwin (that girl has talent!).
