world card making day 2012

On Saturday, October 6th, three other demonstrators and I held a World Card Making Day event for our customers. Each of us designed one card and the guests made two of each and went home with eight cards ready to send to family and friends! There were about 20 in attendance and it seemed like everyone had a great time! We hope to make this an annual thing and celebrate World Card Making Day together every year!
{Andrea, Laura, Tami, and Me}
This first card is the one I designed. I wanted to keep it simple, but still give options for everyone to create their own look, so I gave choices for the image, background embossing, ribbon color, and sentiment.

Card Recipe
Stamp Set: Moving Forward
Paper: Whisper White, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Daffodil Delight Polka Dots DSP
Ink: Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple
Accessories: Dimensionals, Rhinestone Accents, Double-Stitched Ribbon (Midnight Muse, Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green)

Tools: Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine, misc. embossing folders, Word Window Punch, Itty Bitty Flower Punch, Two-Step Owl Punch (heart)

The next three cards were designed by my fellow demonstrators...

Some snapshots of our fun day together...

The whole crew (minus a few who had already left)

We'll be ready to make it bigger and better for next year...
mark your calendars for October 5, 2013!

even more single stamps being offered!

At the beginning of this month, Stampin' Up! announced that for a trial period (through January 2, 2013) they are offering the option to buy SINGLE STAMPS. I shared a little bit about this earlier (view HERE). Well, guess what?! They have added even more options and this time it is an assortment of stamps!

See the two extra flyers below, but keep in mind the following...
  • These won't be sent to you in the typical cases or packaging; they'll be packaged in cello bags. If you'd like a case for your stamp, you can buy the Clear-Mount Stamp Cases that come in packs of four (item 119105).
  • This offer is available for clear-mount stamps only.
  • The stamps won't come with a Clear-Mount Block, and you'll need to buy a block separately if you don't already have one. The recommended block sizes can be found on the flyers.
  • There's no limit on how many pieces you can buy.
 {Click on each flyer below for an up close look!}

Tacoma Regional

At the end of September, I took a rode trip with three of my demonstrator buddies and we headed north to the Tacoma Stampin' Up! Regional. We rolled out of the driveway at 5:00 AM a little sleepy-eyed, but excited for the fun day ahead! It is about a 3-hour drive from where we live and we all opted to make the day trip to avoid the extra costs of an overnight stay and to have more time with the family (especially because it was my son's birthday the day before!)

We got there after they had already opened the doors to let everyone in and by that time the only seating enough for all of us was in the way back. Oh well, it made us closer to all of the sample boards, so that was a plus!

~ Shelli Gardner, CEO for Stampin' Up! ~
I {heart} Shelli! She's so stinkin' cute!

There were many inspiring demonstrations, fun make n takes, some pep talks for how to boost our business, and of course...FREE Stampin' Up! goodies! We each got to take home the Seasonal Sayings stamp set and the Merry Moments Simply Scrappin' Kit! Unfortunately, no one in our table group one Prize Patrol...maybe next time!

I officially decided to bring swap cards the night before and if it wasn't for the amazing help of my mom, there is no way I would have gotten it done before midnight! I decided to make swaps from cards that I had already designed to help save on the added stress. My two cards I swapped are seen here below on the swap boards (the ones that are circled if you hadn't noticed). For those faithful followers of my blog, you might notice that they are familiar as I posted them awhile back when I held my Holiday Catalog Open House in August. (Christmas tree card HERE, Snowflake mug card HERE)

I think in the end I swapped 50 cards...give or take a few, and here are my top five favorite swaps I got in return...

So many talented stampers attended this super fun event! I think one of the highlights of my time was introducing myself to THE Becky Roberts of Inking Idaho. She has been such an inspiration to me as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, so it was fun to meet her in person. Can't help but say I was just a little star struck. *wink*

And, here is the road trip crew after a long, but fun day...

for the birds

It's Card Club tonight! I am looking forward to stamping with this great group of ladies! And now that the weather has turned to its typical rainy ways here in Oregon, it's time to get all cozy indoors and enjoy some crafting time with friends.

This card is a sneak peek of one of the cards my club will be making tonight. I wanted to post it early because my sketch inspiration came from Freshly Made Sketches...

 Sweet and simple...

big shot club (perfectly preserved) - September 2012

This next card I have to show you was part two of last month's Big Shot Club (click here to see part one...Halloween treats!) I wanted to use the Perfectly Preserved stamp set and coordinating Cannery Framelits to show off how versatile the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine is. I am really loving all of the great new Framelits Stampin' Up! has been offering...and don't you just love this bundle?! Stampin' Up! has also done something new in the Holiday Mini Catalog by offering the opportunity to purchase the stamp set and coordinating Framelits to save 15%!

Clear Mount Bundle (save 15%!) - $38.95
Wood Mount Bundle (save 15%!) - $44.95
I have seen so many of these fun cards floating around where the jar is stamped onto a window sheet with Black Stazon to make it look like an actual jar, so I had to try my hand at making my own.
  • I stamped the jar from the Perfectly Preserved stamp set onto a Window Sheet.
  • Using the jar from the Cannery Framelits I die cut the jar image from the front side of the base card.
  • Before adding anything else, I laid the hearts embossing folder across the front and ran it through the Big Shot.
  • I adhered the stamped Window Sheet onto the back side of the card base using SNAIL adhesive.  Then I covered it up with patterned paper (sorry, forgot to take a picture of the back side of the card).
  • The "lid" of the jar is die cut out of Orchard Harvest DSP using the Cannery Framelits then wrapped with some Island Indigo Baker's Twine and popped up with a Dimensional.

When you lift up the card the cherry is stamped on the inside.

Card Recipe
Stamp Set: Perfectly Preserved, Friendly Phrases
Paper: Whisper White, Lucky Limeade, Raspberry Ripple, Orchard Harvest DSP

Accessories: Window Sheets, Dimensionals, Island Indigo Baker's Twine

big shot club (two tags die!) - September 2012

I had such a great time last month at Big Shot Club! I love this group of ladies and I think it will be a fun 8 months together!! My Big Shot Club is new this year. During this club, each of the ladies will learn different techniques and projects using products that go along with the Big Shot Die-Cutting machine. They will be making 2-3 projects and 1 card each month for FREE with their minimum monthly catalog purchase.

This month I decided I wanted to focus on Halloween goodies since our next club wouldn't meet until later in October and I wanted to be sure there was time for them to order supplies for Halloween if they wanted to. It's always good to be thinking ahead! *wink*

I focused on the Two Tags Die (one of my favorites!) for the little candy projects we made.

For anyone who orders this die through my Stampin' Up! online store (or something of similar value if you already have this die), I will send you a FREE PDF tutorial for all three projects below.
